I taught a Garden Angel Workshop at Artistree last Saturday. The "base angel" was one of store owner Nancy Nelson's pre-cut metal angel shapes. A sturdy and durable surface to work on. Nancy was out-of-town so we had the run of the place...
The five of us had a great time and everyone went home with a completed Garden Angel! The perfect way to spend a hot Saturday afternoon -in an air-conditioned studio! There were a lot of different supplies and steps but we still managed to spend some time chatting and share a few giggles.
I now present the artists and their fabulous creations!
High Sierra Animal Rescue told us that Misha was a Jack Russell Terrier-X ...that's "X" for Cross/Mix/Part-Mutt. If she's a cross of anything it is JRT and Devil Dog...and now we have the photo to prove it...look at her eyes!
Artistree's May challenge - my Garden Angel. Teaching a workshop on June 27th...
Concroption's May ATC challenge...pet peeves
Concroption's May challenge - decorate a clear plastic box using whatever-we-wanted and the gold silk flower Trisha sent us...
Scrapbooking nights with friends are great....love this shot of Puzzle
And this Webster's Pages paper is so perfect for my sweet angel princess!
It's good to post...just when I think I've been a slug I realize I have actually gotten a few things done!
Remember...everyday is a gift!

Before I share some pics of Friday night at Nada Dada, here's some of the National Disabled Cyclists race that was part of the Tour De Nez Friday afternoon. It was awesome and inspiring to see these athletes coming up the hill on Flint Street. Amazing determination and some trick cycles!
And now on to this weekend's 3rd annual Nada Dada exhibit on floors 2-4 of the historic art deco El Cortez Hotel and across the street at the Town House Motor Lodge...details here: Reno News and Review article
Hallway in the El Cortez ... each of the artists rents a room for the weekend
Jeff, neon guy and a couple of his artist friends
Yes...that were cooking absinthe
Of course I snapped a photo...there's a bird....
John in the velvet painting/black light room
Some cool neon by Elaine Parks on a burnt out newspaper box in front of the Town House mini-mart
And the grand finale - Mr. Potato Head ...Mr. Dildo Head to you in the Room of a 1000 Dildos...LOL!
After the art, on the way back to our car...which was conveniently parked across from NMA...we stopped at Strega for a brew. I enjoyed a Doppelganger Blonde without the trip to Carson..a perfect end to a great Friday night...
I love Reno in the summer!

A month without blogging. Lot sof reasons but basically this is my motto for now:
Picked this stamp up in Poulsbo, WA on the way to Artfest
Nikki, my niece, celebrated her 30-something birthday last weekend. Isn't she beautiful?
John and I both thought it odd that the pine cones fall off the tree and land right side up...I saw this one actually fall and right itself...quite fascinating
Art and Soul instructor Kelly Rae's art is being sold at paper Moon in Plumgate Plaza in Reno. Kelly's are the pieces directly over the woman's head:)
I am working on Misha and Linus' relationship although I can't trust them alone just yet
Misha loves to sit with Linus on his perch and stare out the window
and John is finally back from down under and managed to sneak this bee-uti-ful shell home in his suitcase
have a creative week - I promise to be a better blogger!

P.S. check out the Artown Calendar !
I made this Garden Angel for Artistree's 1st Anniversary Party on Friday, May 22nd. They are having an Angel Art Auction to benefit Moms On The Run. The party goes from 4-8 p.m. and there will be great art, music by Chris Harold, wine and munchies. Artistree is located on Plumb Lane and McCarran, a few doors down from BofA and Emerald City. Hope to see you there!
I'm hoping to teach a Garden Angel class if you'd like to make an angel for yourself or as a gift...send me an e-mail at artcricket@gmail.com if you're interested - let me know what time is best for you. The class will be about 3 hours.
Misha is starting to settle in. She's sharing more and growling less. We thought she was sick earlier this week but it turned out she was moping around because we had put all her toys away. She's so dang cute, even when she's moping.
I'm taking a Japanese Bookbinding class with some friends at the Nevada Museum of Art - not exactly the class that you'd expect to paint on Tyvek the first night, but that is exactly what we did. Pictures coming soon!
Have a great holiday weekend and take time to be creative - I'll be doing exactly that, in the garden!

This past Saturday, the tres amigas headed over the hill where the trees are lush and green and the roses are in full bloom. What a season teaser! The occasion? To celebrate our dear friend Patty's birthday. First stop - the Fountains Shopping Center, next to The Galleria in Roseville...Carol had given it an A++ recommendation and it didn't disappoint!
I usually don't post without a photo but here goes...tonight I was driving home down Plumb Lane after getting fueled at Starbucks (taxes, need I say more) and had to slam on the brakes for a little dog that ran into the street. The conversation in my head started...should I go back and get the dog, what am I going to do with it because Puzzle's immune system is compromised and what if it has some horrible disease, that dog is going to be a pancake, maybe I could keep it in the garage till morning and then take it to the humane society but it is way too cold out....don't be the one to drive by, be the one to do something...all this craziness going on in my head until I got almost to McCarran and then Turned Around...because I asked myself,
